Zurich Insurance Group has appointed Nordic chief underwriting officer Mattias Fritz (pictured) as the insurer’s chief executive in the region.
Effective in November, the promotion will see Fritz lead about 200 colleagues in Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden while based in Stockholm. The new Zurich Nordic CEO is succeeding Dirk De Nil, who has moved on to become global head of Zurich Resilience Solutions.
“I am excited to further enhance our operations in the Nordics,” Fritz, who came on board in 2021 and has more than 17 years of insurance experience, said in a release. “We will continue our commitment to helping customers manage their risk exposures with top-notch protection, prevention, and mitigation services as well as actionable insights.”
Zurich has operated in the Nordic market for nearly 150 years.
Commenting on the appointment, commercial insurance CEO Sierra Signorelli said: “Mattias brings deep industry expertise and a proven leadership track record. I am confident that he and the entire Nordic team will continue to deliver on our strategy and strengthen the group’s presence across the region.”
