Willis hires Deutsche Bank exec as new HK MD

The new HK managing director will focus on expanding ties with multinational insurers, Asian investors, and financial institutions in the region

Willis Towers Watson has appointed former Deutsche Bank executive Vincent Lien as the new Hong Kong managing director of Willis Capital Markets and Advisory (WCMA).
 
Based in Hong Kong, Lien will focus on expanding WCMA’s relationship with multinational insurers, Asian investors, and financial institutions in the region.
 
Lien will be reporting to Michael Guo and Rafal Walkiewicz, co-CEO’s of the investment banking business of Willis Towers Watson.
 
“Vincent is an excellent addition to our team in Asia and I am delighted to have him onboard,” Guo said.
 
“His extensive investment banking experience with global and regional financial institutions in the US and Asia will significantly strengthen our team’s expertise and capabilities.”
 
Lien joins WCMA from Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong, where he served as director and vice president of the banking, financial institutions group.
 
He also spent six years at Merrill Lynch’s investment banking division in the US and Hong Kong.
 
Lien brings a wealth of experience in the execution and initiation of insurance deals, including Anbang Group's acquisition of Vivat Insurance in the Netherlands and Principal Financial Group's acquisition of AXA's retirement business in Hong Kong.
 
He was also instrumental in Cathay Life's minority stake acquisition of Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation in the Philippines and AIA's acquisition of Aviva NDB Insurance in Sri Lanka.
