Personal lines managing general agent (MGA)
UK General has appointed Vicky Hodgson as chief operating officer.
Prior to UK General, Hodgson was with
Assurant Intermediary for nearly a decade. She was executive director responsible for sales, marketing, and strategy.
The key hire, who will begin her new role on October 02, 2017, also worked at AWD Moneyextra from 2001 and at Black Horse Finance from 1994.
Hodgson’s appointment completes the series of senior hires made by the MGA after it acquired J C Flowers. UK General recently named Matthew Schofield as chief commercial officer, as well as Jane Bean as chief risk officer - the three, along with chief finance officer Ryan Gill, form the executive team under chief executive Karen Beales. Gill has been with UK General for 10 years.
Beales commented: “Vicky will play a key role in shaping the organisation as we evolve our hybrid model to that of a ‘virtual insurer,’ with a strong focus on underwriting discipline and growing profitability for our capacity partners.”
For Hodgson, she looks forward to playing a major role in helping the Leeds-based MGA’s long-term aims. “This is a very exciting time to be joining UK General,” she said.
“Vicky is a well-known and highly experienced insurance executive, and I’m delighted that she is joining UK General,” added Beales. “It was always my intention to create a powerful senior management team to consolidate UK General following the acquisition and grow to the next level of success.”
