QBE UK executive director Cécile Fresneau (pictured), who has held the post for three years, is taking on a wider remit at the insurer’s European operations come April.
Succeeding insurance managing director Sam Harrison, Fresneau will oversee the business in Europe and international markets plus the UK. Harrison, meanwhile, is coming onboard QBE’s group executive committee as group chief underwriting officer.
“Since joining QBE in 2018, Cécile has driven very positive change in our UK business to further cement the success of the division and to ensure that our customers remain central to our proposition,” said QBE International chief executive Jason Harris.
“We have an ambitious agenda for our European business, and I look forward to working with Cécile to achieve it and more.”
Fresneau brings more than two decades of insurance industry experience to her new position, which she will assume in addition to her other existing capacity as Syndicate 386 active underwriter. As for the UK executive director role, a replacement will be named in due course.
Meanwhile, aside from Fresneau’s promotion, it was also announced that Nick Hankin’s appointment as QBE International CUO has been made permanent following Colin O’Farrell’s retirement at the end of last year. QBE International spans the insurance group’s European and Asian operations.
