Lloyd’s broker Tysers – which this year has made several hires to boost its marine, construction, and casualty offerings – has now brought in a key addition to its political violence and terrorism unit.
Tapped to lead the global team is Ciara Appleford (pictured), whose remit will involve driving growth across the company’s broking hubs in London, Dubai, Miami, and Singapore. She brings more than 13 years of experience and know-how to the UK-headquartered group.
“I am very excited to be joining such a well-regarded and ambitious broker,” said the Gallagher alumnus who is making the switch from Lockton. “It’s a great opportunity to work with a dynamic and talented team to drive business expansion in London and across international markets.”
With offices and more than 1,000 employees around the world, Tysers trades in 140 countries and handles over £2.75 billion of premium annually.
Commenting on the appointment, the latest in a series, Tysers chief executive Clive Buesnel stated: “It’s fantastic that Ciara is joining the Tysers team. Her appointment reflects our continued growth strategy and reflects the need for insurance expertise in international markets with locally-based experts who are skilled at placing business into the London Market and global hubs.”
International property and casualty managing director Richard Macfarlane, meanwhile, believes Appleford will contribute “outstanding” market insight and broking expertise.
