It’s official – the corporate retail book of business of AFL Insurance Brokers, along with a 13-strong line-up, is now under the umbrella of Towergate Insurance Brokers.
“After talking to the retail team for some time, we’re thrilled to officially welcome Mike [Almond] and the team into Towergate and our existing international offering,” commented client services director Tony O’Gara, whose division is joined by the AFL roster.
“We have long admired their skillset, knowledge, and quality relationships they have developed as WBN (Worldwide Broker Network) members. We’re excited to enhance the services we can deliver to both new and existing international clients within Towergate, but also within the wider Ardonagh Group.”
The acquisition, financial terms of which were not disclosed, was completed over the weekend. It was noted that the snapped up corporate book represents £8 million of gross written premium.
Towergate Insurance Brokers – whose parent Ardonagh has also completed its purchase of certain trade and assets of Be Wiser – said the AFL addition will strengthen the company’s position as the “independent broker of choice” for international counterparts who are looking to place complex risks for clients with operations in the UK.
