In the highly competitive world of the insurance media, any time you are crowned top of the pile is a huge compliment. To know that recognition comes from the industry itself however, is something truly special.
That was the honour bestowed last night on Insurance Business UK as it was named Publication of the Year in the category (Re)Insurance and Risk at the Willis Towers Watson Media Awards.
“To receive this recognition from the insurance industry is a massive honour,” said Paul Lucas, managing editor of Insurance Business. “The fact that so many people have taken the time out of their working day to fill out a form because they felt we were deserving shows how extensive and loyal our readership is. I’d like to say ‘thank you’ to everyone that voted - it really does make the hard work worthwhile.”
Lucas was on hand at the awards ceremony to accept the big prize of the night on behalf of the Insurance Business team. The award was presented by Willis Towers Watson GB leader Nicolas Aubert, also the CEO of Willis Limited, the Group’s principal UK regulated entity.
“We’ve been in the UK now for two and a half years,” continued Lucas, “and I still remember our first conversations with brokers – they were encouraging us to bring something different to the table and, as one broker put it, ‘shake things up.’ I think this award and our surging readership are testimony to the fact that we’ve done that. But we won’t rest on our laurels – we want to continue innovating and to continue leading the field with the fastest breaking news, exclusive interviews, editorial content you won’t see anywhere else and so much more. We want this to be the first of many.”
