Insurance intermediary Specialist Risk Group (SRG) has announced its acquisition of Stonehatch, a specialist broker in bloodstock and livestock insurance.
Founded by Chris Williamson in 2014, Stonehatch has developed a presence in the bloodstock and livestock sectors, offering insurance solutions to clients and broker partners worldwide.
Williamson and his senior team will remain in leadership roles, continuing to guide Stonehatch as it joins SRG’s growing equine division.
SRG noted that the acquisition is part of its strategy to strengthen its specialist offerings, particularly in niche insurance sectors. Stonehatch’s focus on bloodstock and livestock insurance will expand SRG’s equestrian portfolio, offering clients and broker partners broader, specialised solutions both in domestic and international markets.
Lee Anderson (pictured above), group deputy CEO of Specialist Risk Group, commented on the acquisition, noting that SRG welcomes Williamson and the Stonehatch team.
“Chris and his team share our commitment to delivering specialist, client-focussed solutions, and we look forward to working together to develop our equine and livestock specialism further. Our goal is to continue to build a business that is as renowned for its deep knowledge and expertise as it is for its people and culture-focussed approach,” Anderson said.
Chris Williamson, managing director of Stonehatch, described the acquisition as a new chapter for the Stonehatch team.
“By combining our specialist knowledge in bloodstock and livestock insurance with SRG’s resources and expertise, we are well-positioned to expand our services and deliver more value to our clients. We look forward to working closely with the wider SRG team to continue to provide an excellent level of service whilst contributing to the ongoing growth and success of SRG,” he said.
Williamson expressed gratitude to Stonehatch’s clients and insurer partners for their support to date and looked forward to continuing to work with them under SRG’s banner.
Back in August, SRG also expanded its retail division, Specialist Risk Insurance Solutions (SRIS), with its acquisition of Anthony James Insurance Brokers.
