Lloyd’s insurer
Sompo Canopius has raided rival company Aegis London to appoint Paul Kedney as its new chief commercial officer.
Kedney will join the firm’s group executive committee and will work closely with CEO Stuart Davies and chief underwriting officer Mike Duffy.
Bringing in 17 years of industry experience to his new role, Kedney will help support robust and agile decision-making as he explores ways to maximise profitability across the insurance group, the company said.
“It is a pivotal time to be joining Sompo Canopius as it develops its strategy and builds on already strong foundations with the support of its parent company,” Kedney said. “I admire the ambition of the group and its positive approach to tackling the challenges of the market.”
Sompo Canopius noted that Kedney is “highly regarded” in his previous role as actuarial and risk director at Aegis London.
“Paul was one of the driving forces in making Aegis London a top performing business and it’s a coup to have persuaded him to join our already strong team at Sompo Canopius,” Davies said.
“I rate him as one of the sharpest people I’ve worked with and his considerable analytical skills and commercial acumen will be hugely valuable to us,” he added.
