Sompo Canopius has bolstered its heavy industry team with the appointment of Andy Fynn as mining engineer.
In his new role, Fynn will support the heavy industry function by sharing best practice with brokers and clients, working with them to fully assess risk from a qualified and experienced viewpoint.
Fynn will report to heavy industry team head Spencer Pearce, who said that the company is committed to becoming a leader in the heavy industry area.
“Andy is well regarded across the industry and it makes a real difference to have him on the team,” Pearce said. “With his experience we are able to add significant value to our clients by sharing best practice, advice and engineering services to help support business continuity for them.”

Finn is a chartered mining engineer with nearly 35 years of global experience in the mining industry. He joins from Hawcroft Consulting International, whose UK branch he set up in 2013.
Finn’s recent focus has been on servicing the mining industry in the northern hemisphere, carrying out risk surveys for underground and surface mines for both multinational and individual mine operators across multiple commodities.
