Lloyd’s re/insurer
Sompo Canopius has appointed 30-year industry veteran Steve O’Riordan as head of international property.
O’Riordan will be writing a UK and international direct and facultative property portfolio to complement the firm’s existing US direct and facultative lines.
He will report to Derek Hansen, group head of direct and facultative property, and will work closely with Spencer Pearce, the group’s head of heavy industry.
Hansen said O’Riordan fills a gap in the company’s international property offering while bringing huge trading experience in London.
“He is universally known as an enthusiastic underwriter who looks to work with brokers to find ways to support their placements,” he said.
“Connecting him now with the rest of our underwriting and cat management teams at Sompo Canopius will only enhance that,” Hansen added.
O’Riordan joined from
CNA Europe where he was a property underwriting manager since 2004. In that role, he managed FT500, Fortune 500, multinational and major international programmes.
