In a robust move to strengthen its footprint, Seventeen Group announced the acquisition of four insurance brokerages across the UK. Financial terms of the October deals were not disclosed.
The new additions to the Seventeen Group family include commercial broker UK & Global, which will now integrate with the James Hallam office in Chelmsford while retaining its office in Cambridge.
Led by James Garrett, UK & Global brings a premium income of £2 million.
Now also part of Seventeen Group is Brian Thompson Insurance Consultants (BTIC). Located in Gosforth, Newcastle, BTIC has a team of 17 people managing nearly £5 million in premium income.
The Gosforth office is set to become a central hub for James Hallam in the North East, with the business continuing under the BTIC brand and Brian Thompson’s leadership.
Based in Kent, Nelsons has joined Seventeen Group as well. The brokerage is managed by Don and Susan Nelson, whose camp adds to the wider firm’s network in the region.
Nairn, meanwhile, will bolster Seventeen Group’s presence in Scotland’s Highlands. Headed by Lynne McSherry, the Nairn office marks the sixth location for James Hallam in Scotland.
Reflecting on the transactions, Seventeen Group chief executive Paul Anscombe (pictured) stated: “It has been an incredibly busy year for the group in terms of acquisitions, but this reflects the opportunity for us to expand our UK reach and to bring quality individuals into the team.
“Having a long-term plan for Seventeen Group has certainly persuaded some vendors that we present a good home for their clients and staff. This can compare favourably to some alternatives which may take a small business in a totally different direction via subsequent transactions.”
