RSA has made a major appointment for its European hub, which was set up in September 2018.

Rachel Conran, who came onboard the insurance group earlier this year as chief underwriting officer of RSA unit Global Risk Solutions (GRS), has been tapped to succeed RSA Luxembourg chief executive Richard Turner. The latter is leaving RSA at the end of 2019 after 36 years.

“I would like to thank Richard for his commitment to, and achievements at, RSA,” stated GRS managing director Tony Buckle. “Rachel brings significant leadership and underwriting experience, and is well placed to support our European teams through this period of change.”

The interim CEO’s credentials include time spent as CUO and chief executive of SCOR’s global insurance business, as well as chief underwriting officer and global head of property of Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty.

Commenting on her new role, Conran said: “I am pleased to step into the role of interim CEO and support the business at such an exciting stage of its development.”

Earlier this month RSA Ireland chief executive Ken Norgrove was appointed CEO of the group’s Scandinavian business, Codan/Trygg-Hansa.
