RSA has swooped for a major industry name – picking up Ardonagh Group veteran Paul Dilley (pictured) as its new UK and International chief underwriting officer.
Dilley, who joins the firm as Adrian Sweeney leaves for a new life in New Zealand, boasts more than three decades in the industry starting back in 1988 with MHK Insurance Brokers. He enjoyed stints at Arch Europe and Canopius UK, but is perhaps best known for his time as CEO of Towergate Underwriting (now Geo Underwriting).
Subject to regulatory approval, Dilley should complete his move in July and will work alongside Sweeney as part of a handover process. Sweeney was previously with Zurich in senior underwriting and operations positions, and most recently as CUO for its commercial business globally.
“RSA has a proud underwriting heritage and we are delighted to welcome someone with Paul’s experience and sector knowledge to our ranks as CUO,” said Scott Egan, UK&I CEO at RSA. “I’d also like thank Adrian for his excellent service in his role. Everyone at RSA wishes Adrian and his family the best as they embark on an exciting new chapter.”
