RSA announced on Monday the appointment of David Coughlan as managing director for its UK personal lines business, effective May 1 2016. He will report to UK CEO Steve Lewis.
Replacing Mark Christer, Coughlan will be in charge of RSA’s personal lines offerings, including MORE THAN, Personal Lines Broker, and Affinity. Within the UK, RSA provides cover for over four million homes and vehicles.
Coughlan has been in the insurance industry for over 25 years, with stints at
Zurich, Norwich Union, Guardian and New Ireland Assurance. He joined RSA in 2008 as group motor portfolio director, then was appointed underwriting and claims director for emerging markets in 2010 and group underwriting director in 2013.
Lewis commented on the appointment, saying, “I am delighted to appoint David to this role. He combines extensive industry knowledge gained across a range of pricing, claims and underwriting roles with a strong track record in Personal Lines and in delivering operational change programmes.”
