International specialty re/insurance MGA Rokstone has announced an increase in its directors’ and officers’ (D&O) line size from £5 million to £10 million.
The company notes that the expansion in capacity, which comes entirely from Lloyd’s Syndicates, reflects Rokstone’s effort to bolster its presence in the competitive D&O market.
The decision to double the line size comes at a time when there is significant competition in the D&O sector, with notable imbalances between available coverage and rising risk exposures.
Rokstone’s expanded capacity also signals strong backing from carriers, driven by its underwriting expertise, strategic market relationships, and commitment to supporting broker partners with sustainable solutions.
In addition to the increase in line size, Rokstone has been growing its team to match its ambition to expand its D&O portfolio. This year, the company added several new hires, including Charlie Hassell, who joined as an assistant underwriter in November. Hassell brings more than five years of experience in financial lines from his previous role at Starr Insurance.
“These are exciting times for the D&O team,” said Jimmy Heaton (pictured above), head of D&O at Rokstone. “Since launching the division last year, we’ve focused on the complex SME and mid-market D&O risks, those that fall between the automated products and large corporate placements, and we have proved to be a reliable and consistent underwriting partner for brokers dealing with these intricate but profitable risks.”
As part of its strategy, Rokstone has also introduced several tools to support brokers. These include a Limit of Indemnity Calculator and the D&O Academy, which offers a CPD-approved curriculum covering a broad range of D&O topics.
Heaton highlighted the importance of these initiatives: “Not only have we doubled our line size, we’ve grown the team and launched a number of innovative free D&O broker tools... It’s an exciting time to be part of the Rokstone family.”
The D&O Academy aims to equip brokers with essential knowledge on policy coverage, financial analysis, and claims handling, ensuring they are prepared to navigate the complexities of the D&O market.
Rokstone is one of the largest MGAs globally, with offices across the UK, Europe, the US, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. It serves international (re)insurance brokers, underwriting over $1.1 billion GWP across multiple specialty lines.
These lines include property, power generation, marine, aviation, warranty, credit and surety treaty, agriculture, construction and engineering, A&H, contingency, liability, and sports and leisure.
