RKH Specialty, which describes itself as one of the world’s most powerful independent brokers, has flexed its muscles by securing a key hire from a rival firm.
The company has announced the arrival of Mike Riddick to enhance its Protection and Indemnity expertise as it looks to expand its P&I book globally. Crucially, Riddick arrives from rival firm Lockton where he was the Senior Vice President.
Riddick has spent his whole career in P&I, beginning in 1980 with four years at The Standard Club before moving to Godfrey Merritt Amiss, a specialist P&I broker which then led to more senior positions, at
JLT and ultimately Lockton. He has covered all areas of the globe but he has particular experience with clients from the UK, Europe, Russia, USA, Canada and Pakistan working directly with ship owners and overseas producing brokers placing blue and brown water shipowners’ P&I, charterers’ liability packages and legal costs insurance.
Commenting on the appointment, Daniel Whiteside, RKH Specialty’s Head of Marine, said: “We have consistently grown our team in response to growing demand for a wider range of marine products and services, but we have always understood it is not about how many people you have, it is much more about the results you achieve for clients. Mike’s extensive experience in P&I allows us to really leverage the team’s existing expertise and connections to broaden the scope and scale of our products and services.”
