It’s still unknown how flames made their way to Go-Ahead’s bus garage in Orpington yesterday; what we do know is the extent of damage and how many vehicles escaped harm.
According to the London Fire Brigade, 11 buses were alight at the height of the blaze on Farnborough Hill – an incident which took about three hours to get under control. Eight fire engines – from stations including Orpington, Biggin Hill, Sidcup, and Bromley – and approximately 60 firefighters responded.
“Crews worked hard to stop the blaze from spreading to more buses and around 30 vehicles were moved to safety,” said the Brigade, which posted a video of the fire on Twitter. Of the burned buses, it said seven were completely destroyed.
