Insurance Business UK (IBUK) has announced the results of its Brokers on MGAs 2024 survey, identifying standout managing general agents (MGAs) as rated by retail brokers nationwide.

Selection process for the Brokers on MGAs 2024 list

The survey asked brokers to evaluate the performance and service quality of their MGA partners on a scale of 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent), across 10 categories:

  • ability to place niche or emerging risks;
  • compensation;
  • geographical reach;
  • marketing support;
  • overall responsiveness;
  • pricing;
  • range of products;
  • reputation;
  • technical expertise and product knowledge; and
  • technology and automation.

MGAs that scored an average of four or above in at least one category received a 5-Star designation. Those that achieved an average score of four or higher across all categories were recognised as All-Stars.

Brokers also ranked their top three MGAs across 16 insurance categories, with the survey awarding gold, silver, and bronze medals to the highest-ranked MGAs. Additionally, the top three insurance products were given the Brokers’ Pick medal.

Best MGAs in insurance in the UK in 2024

Renovation Underwriting Limited (RU) emerged among the survey’s recognised MGAs.

Founded in 2018, RU originated from the retail broking firm Renovation Insurance Brokers (RIB), which was established in 2010. The team noted a lack of quality renovation insurance products and thus focused on meeting this market demand.

RU provides insurance and consultancy services for high-value residential and commercial renovation projects. Its renovation policies are available through brokers nationwide.
