In recognition of the role British insurance brokers play in maintaining the strength and effectiveness of the UK’s insurance industry, IBUK recently released its report into the ‘Top Insurance Brokers of 2023’. Featuring insurance stalwarts such as Prizm Solution’s Peter Robinson and rising stars such as Partner&’s Florence Dennis alike, the list serves as a comprehensive who’s-who of this thriving marketplace.
Those named on the list are at the top of the game, as identified by report contributor Mario Conde, partner at Bain & Company and member of Bain’s Insurance practice who said: “Top-performing insurance brokers have a deep understanding of customer needs and the ability to translate those needs into the right risk cover at the best possible price. They support their customers throughout the entire claims process.”
The report highlighted the professionalism of the brokers recognised and their commitment to evolving and developing their skill sets. This is especially important given the challenges facing insurance businesses in the current operating environment, and Conde outlined several of the key pressures facing IB’s top brokers in 2023.
“Recent years have brought incredible shifts in the risk landscape of the industry at a global level,” he said, “and created price and risk shocks that have created anxiety and some knee-jerk reactions in both customers and underwriters, requiring brokers to be forward-thinking.”
Conde noted that new developments, including generative AI, are expanding the toolkit that can drive higher broker productivity, better customer experiences and more efficient operations. Realising the benefits of these solutions and understanding how to effectively invest in them is not trivial, he said, and will require thoughtful planning, new capabilities and change management.
He added: “The bar of expertise keeps getting higher, and finding, developing and retaining the right talent is top on the agenda.”
