Arch Insurance has announced the appointment of Rachida Laazaouzi as senior casualty underwriter, effective immediately.
Laazaouzi joins Arch Insurance (EU) dac (AIEU), the division specialising in property and casualty insurance across the European Union. Based in Paris, she will be responsible for expanding the company’s casualty portfolio in France.
Her role includes underwriting primary, umbrella, and excess liability coverages across various sectors, including industrial, manufacturing, and rail.
Matthew Brophy, chief underwriting officer at AIEU, said that Laazaouzi's expertise and technical understanding of the French casualty market enhance the capabilities of Arch’s Paris team.
“Rachida’s comprehensive expertise and technical knowledge of the French casualty market make her an excellent addition to our growing Paris team. Casualty is a core line of business for Arch globally and at AIEU, we’re committed to strengthening our EU-wide presence in the sector through developing local market-leading teams and solutions.,” Brophy said.
Last month, the insurer also announced the appointment of Jelle Ouwehand as head of terrorism, political violence, and war.
Ouwehand will oversee underwriting activities for a portfolio that includes terrorism, strikes, riots and civil commotion (SRCC), malicious damage, political violence, war, nuclear, chemical, biological, and radiological (NCBR) risks, terrorism liability, and organised crime.
Based in London, Ouwehand will report to Lino Leoni, chief underwriting officer for short tail lines.
Also in November, Arch introduced public and employers’ liability insurance to its digital quote and bind platform, Arch IQ, expanding coverage options for event organisers across the UK.
The new insurance products provide liability solutions for a variety of regional events, including conferences, exhibitions, fairs, fêtes, music festivals, and sports events.
