International insurer QBE has set its sights on further expansion in the UK after extending its trade credit offering with appointments in four newly created roles.
The company announced that Dimitri Griek joined the team this month as a commercial underwriter after spending four years with QBE’s trade credit team in Melbourne.
In December, PWC senior associate Louis Hemsley joined the team as a credit analyst while new economics graduate Ally Connolly also was recruited as an assistant risk underwriter.

Chantelle Thomas also joined the team in October as a claims assessor, transferring from QBE’s motor claims team where she had worked for the past seven years. The insurer said her appointment strengthens its London-based claims function and client service levels.
According to QBE, the latest appointments followed a period of product enhancements, extended client appetite with the lowering of premium thresholds to appeal to the SME market, and the expansion of its Manchester hub.
The insurer said expansion will continue this year with recruitment currently underway for an additional surety underwriter.
In Europe, QBE’s trade credit and surety team is made up of 43 people, operating out of London Manchester, Birmingham and Paris.
