Sebastiaan Lambalk (pictured), who joined QBE in 2021 as head of strategy for Europe, will assume the position of general manager of the group’s new branch in the Netherlands come January.
Lambalk, who has one and a half decades of insurance experience to his name, was in charge of setting up the Netherlands branch and team, which will write business incepting from the New Year.
QBE Europe’s insurance director Bea Valenti noted: “Sebastiaan has played a central role in the establishment of our Netherlands operation and has built a very strong team around him who are already in market writing risks.
“The Netherlands branch completes a missing piece in our European footprint, and I am delighted to have Sebastiaan in place to drive this operation for us.”
Meanwhile succeeding Lambalk and taking on the role of QBE’s head of strategy & underwriting transformation for Europe is former EY UK associate director Queralt Vila.
