Probitas 1492 has established Probitas 1492 (Europe) SRL/BV, a service company that underwrites business in the European Economic Area (EEA). The new operation is based in Brussels and has a branch office in London.
The Belgium office is led by Koen Cambre, head of office and senior underwriter, who will work closely with the syndicate team in the UK, Probitas said.
“Opening Probitas 1492 (Europe) is the next stage in the continuous evolution and growth of Probitas,” said Nick Bacon, managing director of the Probitas Group. “I’m very proud that, following on from the approval of Probitas Managing Agency in 2021, we now have a fully approved Europe-based underwriting agency, with a UK branch to serve London-based brokers. We’re delighted to welcome Koen Cambre and are confident that his knowledge and experience in European markets will enable the continued development of our business.”
Probitas 1492 (Europe) is regulated by Belgium’s Financial Services and Markets Authority as a mandated underwriter and reinsurance broker. It has authority to enter into reinsurance contracts on behalf of Lloyd’s Europe in Belgium and in all other EEA jurisdictions.
