Underwriting syndicate Probitas 1492 has appointed Lindsay McQuillian as general counsel.
McQuillian – who is moving from Mayer Brown’s insurance and reinsurance practice, where she has been partner since 2008 – will lead Probitas’s financial lines claims proposition when she joins in January 2018. She has more than 18 years of experience in the insurance market, particularly in professional indemnity, financial institutions, and general liability.
“As the market continues to evolve, navigating legal and regulatory change is increasingly important,” commented McQuillian, who is also a market leader in European Union / UK sanctions. “It is great that Probitas has made this a priority, and is testament to their forward thinking approach. I am looking forward to being part of this ambitious team.”
Probitas chief executive Ash Bathia commented: “This is a strategic hire for the syndicate, as her legal expertise and industry knowledge further enhances our ability to deliver on our plans for outstanding client service and growth.”
The Lloyd’s syndicate specialises in property, construction, and casualty insurance and reinsurance solutions. Headquartered in London, Probitas can underwrite risks across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Asia, Central & South America, and Canada.
