Premiership Rugby and Gallagher have announced a multi-year extension of their partnership, which will see their collaboration continue until the end of 2028. The new three-year agreement, starting with the 2025/26 season, extends the relationship to a decade.
Gallagher has been the official title sponsor of Premiership Rugby since 2018. The 2023/24 season was marked by Gallagher’s ‘Right Here for Rugby’ initiative, an effort to bring the game to new audiences across the country.
The previous season also saw the Gallagher Premiership broadcast in 164 territories, reaching over 100 million fans globally. In partnership with TNT Sports, Gallagher said that the league recorded its fastest-ever sold-out final, following the closest season on record.
Gallagher’s involvement also extends beyond its sponsorship of the professional game, with the company also co-funding Premiership Rugby’s community initiative, Project Rugby. Since its launch in 2018, the programme has engaged over 100,000 young people, with a focus on underrepresented groups including women, people with disabilities, and those from diverse or low-income backgrounds.
Independent research indicates that 84% of participants expressed interest in playing more rugby, and more than 150 grassroots clubs have benefitted from an influx of new players.
Michael Rea, CEO of Gallagher in the UK, said the renewed partnership is a point of pride for the business.
“For our business, the partnership has helped us to expand the Gallagher name, interact with rugby at all levels of the game, and build a great bond with the rugby community,” Rea said.
Simon Massie-Taylor, Premiership Rugby chief executive officer, acknowledged Gallagher’s contributions over the past six years, describing the new extension as critical long-term support for the sport.
“I speak on the behalf of everyone at Premiership Rugby and all of our clubs when I say how delighted we are to have renewed our title partnership with Gallagher,” Massie-Taylor said. “We look forward to what we can achieve in what will become a decade together in what is fast-becoming one of the most successful partnerships in sport.”
