Pioneer Underwriters (Pioneer) has appointed Dan Watson as an underwriter in its engineering division, with the goal of putting additional focus on facultative engineering risks.
Watson, who has over a decade of underwriting experience, was recently a Power and Erection ‘All Risks’ (EAR) Trading Underwriter at
RSA. Credited for around $15 million of income, he was responsible for the team’s recent international expansion.
Pioneer’s beefed up engineering division will look at EAR and associated delay in start-up insurance, as well as operational power including machinery breakdown and business interruption.
Watson will report directly to Peter Rossell, head of engineering, and be based in London. Welcoming Watson to the team, Rossell said, “His proven track record and specialist expertise will enable us to further advance our technical underwriting solutions.”
Rossell added that Watson will be invaluable in ensuring the delivery of dynamic underwriting, as Pioneer builds out its engineering business line and drives international development.
