Seasoned industry executive Paul Crilly has joined
Pen Underwriting as the new head of its solicitors’ professional indemnity practice.
Crilly will lead Pen’s team of technical solicitors’ PI underwriters, further developing the class as an established core specialism.
He will also explore opportunities to diversify capabilities into complementary product areas and geographies to enhance the firm’s broker offering.
Crilly said it is a “genuinely exciting time” to join Pen following its “exceptionally strong” performance in 2016.
“With such strong foundations, the scale and potential to take this business to the next level presented an opportunity I couldn’t resist and I’m delighted to become part of the team,” he said.
Boasting over 25 years of industry experience, Crilly previously held three leadership roles, wherein he set up and managed delegated authorities within PI-specialist brokers for solicitors and other professions.
Crilly was the head of solicitors at
Howden UK’s professions and general liability business. He also served as an executive director of Professional Indemnity at Prime Professions and at Alexander Forbes.
“Paul’s strong market relationships and breadth of experience, both here in the UK and overseas, will be a fantastic complement to our depth of technical underwriting expertise as we look to broaden our solicitor capabilities in terms of product, distribution and geography,” said Jennifer Martin, Pen’s financial lines managing director.
