Managing general agent Pen Underwriting has brought in business development managers for the Midlands.
Reporting to national sales manager Nick Hewland, Helen Barnes (pictured left) and Liz Abrahams (pictured right) will serve as BDMs for Midlands – South and Midlands – North, respectively.
“The Midlands continues to be an area with a strong broker base and great growth potential, so we are delighted to welcome Liz and Helen to the team to further increase our capabilities and dedicated broker support in the region,” said Hewland in an emailed release.
“Given their proven strengths in building relationships with brokers, and the technical knowledge that comes from working within specialist underwriting and claims areas before making the transition to business development, both are fantastic additions to our UK-wide team.”
Barnes, whose career began as a construction market underwriter at Zurich, was most recently with HSB Engineering. Abrahams, meanwhile, started out in commercial and corporate claims before becoming an underwriter and, latterly, a business developer. Her credentials include time spent at Gallagher, Markel UK, and Allianz.
“Together they can ensure the full power of Pen,” added Hewland, “with our continued investment in expanding and diversifying our product offering as well as maintaining multiples ways to trade, are brought to bear for the benefit of the brokers they support and to help those brokers grow and sustain their own businesses.”
Set up in 2015, the MGA employs 440 people and generates more than £660 million in gross written premium.
