A Liverpool Crown Court judge has given former corporate broker Garry Roberts a chance to mend his paedophilic ways.
Roberts – who pleaded guilty to three counts of downloading and one count of possessing indecent images of children – was handed down eight months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and was told to comply with a sexual harm prevention order.
According to a report by the Echo, 12 Category A indecent images of children were previously recovered by Merseyside Police officers from Roberts’ mobile phone. These included photos showing girls as young as five being raped.
Category B images, 51 of them, were also retrieved, in addition to 1,130 that fell under Category C.
Roberts, who Insurance Business has confirmed is the same corporate broker hired by Gallagher in Liverpool in May 2020, had no previous convictions. He is no longer connected with the company.
“In mitigation you’re of previous good character and I’ve read references about you and you having a good employment record,” the Echo meanwhile quoted Judge Stuart Driver, who cited “a realistic prospect of rehabilitation” as telling Roberts.
“You have already begun to rehabilitate yourself and the sentence will be reduced by one third for your plea of guilty.”
