Oliver Wyman has announced an expansion of its property and casualty (P&C) capabilities in Europe through the establishment of a London-based presence. To lead the initiative, Matthew Facey (pictured) has joined Oliver Wyman Actuarial as partner, bringing over 23 years of expertise in the European P&C and technology sectors.

Facey will spearhead the development of Oliver Wyman Actuarial’s European P&C practice, enhancing the firm’s ability to serve a diverse range of client needs, a news release highlighted. His responsibilities will include expanding services such as reserving, pricing, capital model creation and validation, technology implementation, and actuarial and finance transformation. With the expansion, Oliver Wyman’s management consulting teams will collaborate, leveraging the resources of the broader Marsh McLennan group.

“We are excited to welcome Matt to lead our European P&C capability,” said Dan Gibson, global P&C practice leader. “His extensive experience in the UK and European markets will be vital in strengthening our European actuarial practice and assisting clients in navigating a dynamic landscape and evolving regulatory requirements.”

Facey’s appointment builds on Oliver Wyman Actuarial’s growing presence in the UK, following the successful launch of its UK practice last year. Facey’s experience includes a tenure at WTW, where he played a pivotal role in expanding its operations in London and the Middle East. He specialises in actuarial technology and advisory services and will focus on delivering advanced solutions to insurance companies and syndicates in the Lloyd’s of London market.

“Having built a career dedicated to delivering exceptional value to clients in a rapidly changing business environment, I am delighted to join Oliver Wyman Actuarial,” Facey said. “Our accomplished teams, in conjunction with Oliver Wyman’s insurance and asset management practice, creates a powerful platform for providing high-quality, independent advice that empowers clients to navigate challenges and creates an environment where their actuaries can truly excel.”

Oliver Wyman Actuarial is part of the Oliver Wyman Group, offering actuarial services to insurers, investors, and corporates.
