Lloyd’s reinsurer MS Amlin Underwriting Limited (MS AUL) has bolstered its line-up with a double swoop.
The company has brought in John Slabbart and Martin Hudson as non-executive directors, with the former to also take on the role of chairman of the board, subject to regulatory approval. Slabbart will take the position as Gilles Bonvarlet transitions across to an independent non-executive director role. Hudson, meanwhile, will enjoy additional responsibilities as chairman of the firm’s underwriting committee.
According to MS Amlin Underwriting CEO Tom Clementi, both offer years of market expertise and experience, with strong leadership qualities. Slabbart has two decades of experience in CEO and CFO roles, currently serving as chairman of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company (Europe), having started his career at AIG and also spending time at Chaucer where he was CEO for two years. Meanwhile, Hudson boasts 30 years in senior leadership roles – he currently advises Apollo Syndicate Management, Old Mutual Specialty Insurance and Sirius.
“Today’s announcement reflects the positive momentum underway at MS AUL, following the recent appointment of five senior leaders within the specialty business, which further demonstrates our ability to attract leading industry talent,” said Clementi.
Additionally, the firm noted the retirement of non-executive director Derek Thornton.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Gilles who will continue as a key part of our leadership team, and Derek who retires from the MS AUL board after many years of dedicated service,” added Clementi. “We wish him the very best for the future.”
