One of the largest insurance law firms in the UK has today announced that it will be integrating two of its offices during the next 18 months – with jobs likely to go.
Yorkshire-based Minster Law, which employs 600 people and separated last year from
BGL Group, is set to move from its York site and place its business under one roof at its Wakefield office.

According to Michael Warren, the law firm’s managing director, the move represents a step forward.
“We want to deliver continuous improvement in service and efficiency to provide the best possible claims journey for our partners’ customers,” he said.
“Consolidating our legal services and support functions will create a consistent experience for customers and ensure a closer and more productive relationship between our teams, and I fully expect that Minster Law will deliver a step change in performance as a result.”

Warren believes that the move will lower overheads and present extra resources with which to invest in the company’s “transformation agenda.”
He admitted that some “site specific roles” would no longer be required – such as in the York facilities team – but that the firm would offer roles to its staff currently in York who are happy to make the move.
“Colleagues who choose not to move with us will have 18 months to determine what’s best for them and we’ll give them all the support they need to do so,” he said.
