Global consulting and actuarial firm Milliman has announced that 17 students from across the globe have been named recipients of the company’s Opportunity Scholarship programme. The programme was created to assist students from ethnic groups and races that are under-represented in the fields of actuarial science, data science, computer science, economics, programming, mathematics, statistics, data analytics, and finance.
This year’s recipients hail from colleges and universities across the US, Australia, South Africa and the UK. All have demonstrated academic excellence and plan to pursue a career in actuarial science or related fields.
“We are pleased to support these outstanding students and recognise their accomplishments to date,” said Milliman CEO Steve White. “Our profession will benefit from their diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Our hope is that this financial support will be a small step on their path to future success and leadership.”
Eight of this year’s recipients were also awarded Opportunity Scholarships last year. Since its inception in 2017, this programme has awarded 61 scholarships.
