Specialist (re)insurance broker Miller has selected Gérald Castanier to lead its European leasing practice.
The newly formed leasing practice will primarily focus on offering leasing insurance, which shields banks, corporations, and funds acting as lessors from the risks associated with non-payment of rent. Miller’s offering will also include tailor-made solutions that grant access to extended coverage for political violence and the residual value of insured assets.
Based in Paris, Castanier will collaborate closely with Miller’s London and Geneva offices. He will report to Arnaud Froideval, head of credit and political risks for Europe.
“I’m pleased to welcome Gérald to Miller to lead the launch and development of our new leasing practice,” said Froideval. “Gérald brings strong experience in credit and trade finance and a proven entrepreneurial mindset, and I look forward to the growth of this new offer for Miller’s banking and corporate clients.”
Castanier joins Miller from Aon, where he played a pivotal role in developing its leasing solutions practice. He began his career at began at Societe Generale, holding various trade finance positions. He later moved to Deutsche Bank and served as VP sales trade finance officer for 12 years.
“I’m delighted to be joining Miller to develop its leasing practice, a large addressable market for which I believe Miller can create a differentiated proposition,” said Castanier. “I look forward to working closely with Arnaud and my new colleagues across London and Europe. Miller’s significant ambitions for Europe make this an exciting time to join.”
News of Castanier’s appointment comes after Oscar Holloway was named as the new head of Miller Europe last month. Holloway joined the firm from Marsh, where he was senior vice president in its capital markets division.
