The Managing General Agents’ Association (MGAA) has officially announced the induction of three new members to its board following the Annual General Meeting held at Lloyd's.

The appointees include Ian Cook, the managing director of MX Underwriting; Daniel Berry, chief underwriting officer at Brown & Brown Europe; and Paul Brady, market oversight counsel at Lloyd’s.

The addition of the three follows another major board update just a few months ago. In November, Lizzie Smith-Foreman, the director of group marketing, communications, and sustainability at Markerstudy Group, has also assumed a position on the board.

During the AGM, the MGAA also shared the milestone achievement of welcoming its 400th member, highlighting a significant upturn in its membership over the past year. This growth, as the MGAA explains, underscores the association's increasing influence and relevance within the insurance sector.

The association's CEO, Mike Keating, highlighted the organization's achievements over the past year, including a record turnout at its 2023 annual conference, which attracted over 1,000 delegates.

Additionally, its regular schedule of market briefing sessions, hosted by members, saw participation from over 4,000 attendees across 42 events, demonstrating the value and engagement of its offerings to the industry.

In its commitment to fostering a more inclusive and diverse insurance market, the MGAA also expanded its membership benefits to include a specialized series of webinars on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I).

Looking ahead to 2024, the MGAA has laid out plans to further enhance its support for members, particularly in areas of compliance and regulatory assistance, based on feedback from its membership.

A significant upgrade is also anticipated with the launch of a new website aimed at improving the member experience. Moreover, the MGAA intends to revitalize its Learning & Insights program, which is driven by the needs and contributions of its members.

Commenting on the recent appointments to the board, Keating expressed his optimism and welcomed the trio to their new roles on the board.

“Last year it was fantastic to see so many of our members attending our events and benefiting from the programmes that we have in place to support the growth of the MGA sector as a whole. Looking forward to the rest of 2024, as always, we’re hugely excited to be developing that support further, finding new ways to better serve our membership,” Keating said.
