Global insurance services provider McLarens has strengthened its major loss practice with the appointments of Simon Shaw and Martin Allan to two new senior management roles.
Simon Shaw has been named head of major loss practice for London & South-East, while Martin Allan was appointed head of major loss practice for Scotland. Both Shaw and Allan will work alongside the other regional heads of the practice – Gareth Bowers, head of major loss for the Midlands, Southwest, and Wales; and William Wilson, head of major loss for Ireland. They will also report to McLarens executive director Neil Baldwin.
Shaw has more than 30 years of industry experience, having held senior management roles with insurers, brokers and loss adjusters. He first began his loss adjusting career in the UK, and as he later held several senior positions, his work took him to Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore and the Philippines. Shaw has worked across a range of different sectors, such as power, manufacturing, hotel & leisure and commercial property, and his expertise includes responding to high profile terrorism incidents.
Allan was most recently serving as head of operations – North for McLarens UK & Ireland. He has over 35 years of experience working across commercial property claims of all classes, both domestic and international. Allan’s expertise includes multi-million-pound fire and flood losses, and he has handled catastrophe duties across the globe. Since 2019, he has held senior management positions within McLarens’ Northern and Scottish operations.
“We’ve made a strategic decision to expand our Major Loss proposition over the past two years and we’re seeing continued growth and market demand as a direct result. Our adjusters are of the highest quality and our strong leadership team continue to drive our performance further forward, with the customer at the heart of all that we do,” said McLarens executive director Neil Baldwin. “Simon and Martin are both excellent technical adjusters, with significant experience of managing and growing teams across the world, and they will complement our existing Major Loss Practice very well.”
In a release, McLarens said that the appointments will boost its complex and major loss capability in those respective regions. It noted that the major loss practice leadership expanding from three to five reflects its growth and increasing market demand. McLarens also said that the appointments coincide with its internal promotions of Karl Evans, Ian Marenghi and Tim McGee to the team.
