The insurance industry has often found it difficult to attract young people, but now one company is attempting to buck that trend.
Marsh has announced the appointment of 25 apprentices to its 2016 UK Apprentice Programme, which grants employee and training opportunities across its UK network. Its new apprentices will join teams in Manchester, Bristol, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Norwich.
Overall, its UK Apprentice Programme plans to recruit 100 apprentices nationwide over the next five years. Since its launch in 2014 the number of places on the programme has doubled.
“Our UK Apprentice Programme offers an attractive alternative to further or higher education for bright and ambitious school leavers, equipping them with the technical expertise and skills they require to develop a varied and exciting career at Marsh,” said Joe Grogan, CEO of Marsh’s corporate business, UK and Ireland.
“We want to attract candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds who will work hard on behalf of our clients and are committed to bringing new skills and enthusiasm to our firm.”
Over the course of the two-year programme the apprentices will have the opportunity to gain a variety of technical and professional qualifications, including a Certificate of Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute. The Marsh UK Apprentice Programme is open to students that have gained a minimum of 240 UCAS points at ‘A’ level or equivalent.
