It was back in January that Marsh swooped for Bluefin Insurance Group and subsequently combined it with Jelf Group. Now, the global brokerage giant is looking to expand its practice for broker networks through the Jelf and Bluefin Direct & Partnership Division by creating Marsh Networks.

The idea behind Marsh Networks is that it will comprise of the Bluefin Network alongside Marsh ProBroker and Purple Partnership – collectively serving more than 230 firms across the broking community. Independent brokers will also gain by enjoying access to new and enhanced products.

“With our new Marsh Networks strategy, independent brokers can now choose from three distinct propositions, according to the products and services they require and the level of relationship support they need,” said David Hopwood, the newly announced head of Marsh Networks. “And, for those brokers that do not wish to join a network, they can still gain access to Marsh’s products and services, offering a higher degree of flexibility than ever before.”

Hopwood was previously managing director of Bluefin Network and he will now offer leadership for the various entities which will continue to operate separately. Marsh ProBroker focuses on members whose clients need bespoke cover for unusual or complex risks and is led by Mike Rogers; Purple Partnership supports members focused on providing commercial lines, with Les Brewin at the helm; while Bluefin Network is spearheaded by Duncan Pagan and works with commercial brokers who want to fast-track their business. Pagan was previously the operational director at Bluefin Network.

“The independent broking community is a vital part of the UK’s insurance industry, serving clients across the length and breadth of the country,” said Duncan Carter, CEO of the D&P Division. “We are committed to the continued development of Marsh ProBroker, Purple Partnership and Bluefin Network, which includes the enhancement of distinct products and services to provide independent brokers with the opportunities and support they need to make their businesses more successful.”
