Marsh has appointed Stephen McKay (pictured) as UK advisory leader.
Pending regulatory approval, McKay will be stationed in London and report to Marsh McLennan UK chief executive Chris Lay and Marsh international advisory leader Giampaolo Scarso. As part of the role, McKay is joining the UK executive committee at Marsh.
As advisory leader, McKay will oversee Marsh’s strategic and operational risk consulting teams in the UK while enhancing the brokerage’s analytics and claims solutions capabilities. He will collaborate with clients on key initiatives such as risk cost reduction, resilience improvement, and providing critical insights for risk finance decisions.
Currently serving as the property practice leader for Marsh Advisory in North America, McKay has held this role for over four years. His extensive 30-year career spans advising on risk programmes across multiple industries, with specialisations in major hazard assessment, M&A (mergers and acquisitions) due diligence, and environmental controls.
“Organisations in the UK are undergoing vast transformation across all areas of their operations and require innovative solutions to help them manage a variety of emerging risks,” McKay noted.
“I look forward to leading the UK advisory team and supporting them in their provision of meaningful data and foresight for clients so that they have the insights they need to remain resilient.”
Lay, meanwhile, had this to say about the appointment: “Our UK advisory business is a hub of deep industry expertise, advanced analytics, and specialist global knowledge.
“With increasing uncertainty around the challenges that lie ahead, whether they be geopolitical, technological, or commercial, Stephen will play a crucial role in ensuring our UK clients remain optimistic about their growth opportunities.”
Advising clients in more than 130 countries, Marsh employs over 45,000 people. The global broker is a business of Marsh McLennan, alongside sister companies Guy Carpenter, Mercer, and Oliver Wyman.
