Markerstudy Group’s 176 volunteers dedicated a cumulative 1,224 hours to support charitable initiatives across England in June this year. The beneficiaries included organisations like 4Louis, Second Chance, Peterborough Soup Kitchen, the RSPCA, and Railworld Wildlife Haven.
The initiative is part of the group’s campaign, termed #JoinInJune, in alignment with National Volunteers Week (June 1 to June 7). In the first week alone, more than 400 hours of volunteer work were accomplished.
The endeavour also encouraged colleagues to utilise their designated volunteering days to actively contribute to charitable projects and causes within their local communities. The company allows employees to engage in one paid volunteering day and up to five unpaid volunteering days each year.
“It's been heartening to witness numerous colleagues dedicating their personal time to a diverse array of volunteering endeavours throughout June,” Markerstudy ESG manager Emily Taylor said. “Markerstudy is resolute in fostering a positive impact within our local communities, motivating our colleagues to individually make a meaningful difference by supporting worthwhile causes.”
The company’s staff also participated in various activities conducted throughout the month. These included The Wildlife Trusts' “30 Days Wild” initiative, encouraging daily “wild” actions throughout June. Additionally, 500 bees were adopted in support of World Environment Day on June 5.
In observance of World Bike Week (June 5 to June 11), employees were encouraged to embrace the environmental and health benefits of cycling by opting for this mode of transportation to work. By the end of June, Markerstudy's pet foodbank donation stations had accumulated more than 550 items related to pets, collected from across its UK offices. These items were subsequently donated to local RSPCA branches and animal shelters.
From January to July, 1,038 Markerstudy colleagues collectively contributed over 4,349 hours of volunteer work. The cumulative donation to charitable causes within local communities amounted to £155,956.
Elsewhere for the group, Markerstudy also recently announced the appointment of Amanda Fox as new chief customer officer.
