Markerstudy Group has announced the appointment of Emma Rawlinson (pictured) as its new chief investment officer, a role that has been newly created within the organisation.
Rawlinson, who joined Markerstudy following the company’s acquisition of Atlanta earlier this year, will report directly to Group CEO Kevin Spencer. The appointment takes effect immediately.
In her role, Rawlinson will focus on capital raising, liaising with shareholders, and mergers and acquisitions. Spencer stated that her work will centre around leveraging the Group’s investment capability to drive further business growth.
“Emma’s background in private equity, coupled with her experience as CEO and CFO of Atlanta, positions her well for this demanding role. It highlights the scale of our ambition for the Group,” Spencer said. He went on to say that he has been impressed by her strategic insights and financial expertise since the merger, expressing confidence in her leadership as the company moves forward.
Rawlinson noted that the Group is entering a significant period of change, expressing enthusiasm for leading the organisation’s financial strategy.
“The combined Markerstudy Group is already a dominant force in UK personal lines but there is headroom for further growth and I’m looking forward to working with Kevin and our investors to bring our ambitious plans to fruition,” she said.
Rawlinson’s career began at Deloitte, after which she joined NorthEdge Capital LLP as Chief Financial Officer in 2009. She transitioned to the insurance sector in 2018, taking on a senior strategic role at Swinton.
Following Swinton’s acquisition by Ardonagh in 2020, she served as CFO and later became CEO of Atlanta in 2021. After Markerstudy’s acquisition of Atlanta, she took on the role of chief operating officer of Markerstudy Distribution.
The acquisition of Atlanta Insurance in June 2024 has bolstered Markerstudy’s distribution arm, which offers motor, home, SME, and pet insurance products through partnerships with well-known brands in UK financial services and retail. This includes brands such as Swinton, Carole Nash, Marmalade, and Purely Pets, among others.
Additionally, Clegg Gifford, also part of Markerstudy Distribution, expands the Group’s presence into the Lloyd’s of London market, specialising in both personal and commercial insurance products.
