Markel, the insurance operations within the Markel Group Inc., has announced the return of its Service Champion initiative at the upcoming British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) 2024 conference. Building on the success of its debut at BIBA 2023, this year’s program introduces an evolved, more inclusive model aimed at recognising brokers who excel in service within the industry, according to a Press release.

The Service Champion initiative, launched in 2023, allowed brokers to nominate peers and colleagues who exemplify exceptional service and have significantly elevated industry standards. This year, Markel has expanded the initiative into a rolling program, designed to include more brokers from firms of all sizes, thus creating a broader platform for recognition not just at BIBA, but throughout the year.

“Recognition isn’t just about giving thanks; it’s about creating a culture of appreciation and engagement that enhances industry standards as a whole,” said Jo Sykes, divisional director - broker at Markel. “This initiative continues to spotlight deserving individuals known for their dedication and professionalism in an industry that is so vital to the UK economy.”

Markel reaffirms its commitment to building a stronger, more connected insurance industry with the return of the Service Champion initiative, according to the news release. The company also noted the entire insurance community will benefit from heightened standards and improved customer experiences.

The insurer invites interested parties to participate in the Service Champion initiative. Nominations can be made online or in person at Markel’s stand B2 during the BIBA 2024 conference.
