There will soon be a new finance director at Markel International.
The firm has today revealed that Simon Barrett will take the position at the end of the year as Jeremy Noble moves on to become chief financial officer of Markel Corporation.
Barrett had been with Hamilton at Lloyd’s – taking the position of chief financial officer in 2015. For 12 years prior to that, he was finance director for a number of XL’s UK subsidiaries. In a release confirming the appointment, Markel outlined that Barrett will join the boards of both Markel International Insurance Company and Markel Syndicate Management – the firm’s two London insurance entities. He will also be a member of the Markel International executive committee.
“Simon’s deep market experience, commercial mindset, fresh perspective and history of working with organisations experiencing change, will be invaluable as we navigate the challenges of current market conditions, continue to grow the Markel International franchise and contribute to Markel’s efforts to build one of the world’s great companies,” said Noble.
