Markel International’s trade credit, political risk, and surety (TCPRS) business has just got stronger.
First off, senior underwriter Simon Philpin’s role has been expanded to include managing new business development for the trade credit operation across the UK and Europe. The wider remit will see Philpin working closely with global development director Arjan Van de Wall.
Markel International said the role will add strength and depth to its broker relationships, with a focus on growing with major trading partners.
Meanwhile Victoria Northedge has been appointed as assistant underwriter within the surety team to support head of surety Damian Manning and senior underwriter David Chandler. The firm said the appointment is aimed at reinforcing the operation’s client servicing and business development capabilities.
“These are important steps which reflect our ability to grow and develop the team,” said Ewa Rose, managing director of the TCPRS business. “We wish Simon and Victoria all the best in their new roles.”
