Specialist insurer Markel International has created a “single focus” on its sales and marketing initiatives in the UK – appointing two-decade industry veteran Nic Brown (pictured) as director.
Brown, former global sales director at
Bupa’s international medical insurance business, will be in charge of sales and marketing of Markel’s national markets business in the UK. This is a consolidation of Markel’s regional insurance operation, its accountants’ fee protection insurer and tax consultancy (Abbey Tax), and its legal expenses insurance and legal advice business (Abbey Legal).
“The combination of the opportunity to create a single focus on all of our sales and marketing activities in the UK, supported by Markel’s investment in the necessary systems and sector propositions development, was a very attractive one for me,” commented Brown. “We have a unique opportunity to significantly increase our UK market footprint and penetration, and I am very much looking forward to working with all of our teams to make this growth ambition a reality.”
The new sales and marketing director also worked at the likes of
AXA, Aetna, Cigna, and Citibank.
“Within our UK business we offer high level advisory skills and services that play critical roles in the success of all commercial organisations,” explained Neil Galjaard, divisional managing director of Markel UK. “We are increasingly combining insurance, tax, and legal services to provide a real sector specialism for brokers, accountants, and affinity organisations.
“Nic’s experience, across a wide range of product lines and distribution channels, will be important in broadening the breadth and reach of the propositions that we offer our clients.”
