Specialist insurer Markel has appointed Lida Heaven as an underwriter for its trade credit and political risk division. Heaven will contribute to the development of Markel’s political risk book, focusing on the contract frustration business.
Previously, Heaven has worked as a political risk and structured credit broker for
Aon Risk Solutions. Prior to that, she obtained her Master’s degree with distinction from the School of Oriental and African Studies and a first class degree from the University of York.
She joins Markel following the recruitment of senior underwriter Nicola Marriage in January 2016, to lead the political risk team.
Commenting on the hire, Marriage said, “Lida has built an impressive reputation as a broker and this, together with her strong academic background, makes her an ideal candidate to assist in the development of a diverse and profitable contract frustration book. Her broking background will also support the establishment of strong client and broker relationships.”
