After more than three decades with the company, QBE International chief underwriting officer Colin O’Farrell is about to depart.

O’Farrell will be retiring from the firm, after 34 years, at the end of 2020.

“Colin has been an exceptional business leader who has assisted in ensuring QBE European Operations’ standing in the market today. His focus on underwriting performance leaves QBE well placed for the future,” said Richard Pryce, CEO of QBE International. “I would like to thank him personally, and on behalf of the board, for his contribution.

Stepping into the position on an interim basis will be Nick Hankin, the current deputy chief underwriting officer. He will transition into the role on January 01, 2021.

In a release announcing the move, QBE outlined Hankin’s experience, which includes a previous position as chief underwriting officer for commercial lines at Aviva UK.
