Allianz has announced an expanded partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU), representing a significant investment aimed at enhancing the sport’s growth as part of the insurer’s longstanding history of backing rugby.
As the current official insurance, investment, and asset management partner of England Rugby, Allianz has supported the men’s and women’s national teams for the past four years, continuing its commitment through the new partnership while also supporting community clubs.
Under the multi-year tie-up, Twickenham Stadium will be rebranded as Allianz Stadium starting in September. The rebranding marks Allianz’s eighth stadium sponsorship worldwide. Allianz Stadium in the UK will join the likes of Allianz Arena in Munich and Allianz Parque in São Paulo.
Allianz, which is also the title partner for Premiership Women’s Rugby, will enhance its investment in the sport by supporting rugby players, fans, and communities. The goal is to make rugby accessible nationwide, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the game.
A key component of the partnership is the launch of the Allianz Future Fund, which will provide financial assistance to community rugby clubs. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to uplift players and clubs at the local level and sustain England’s rugby heritage.
“We are delighted to partner with the RFU to further invest in grassroots clubs, our national teams, and in the home of England Rugby,” Allianz UK chief executive Colm Holmes (pictured left with Allianz Personal managing director Serge Raffard) commented. “We see a strong match between the values and ambitions of Allianz and those of the RFU.
“With each of the eight stadia we now support around the world, we seek to create the best experience for fans, players, and local communities. Allianz Stadium is no different. We embrace our responsibility in carrying forward its extraordinary history as a stadium full of inspirational memories, team spirit, inclusion, and heart.
“We look forward to supporting the RFU in delivering more incredible experiences for rugby fans at Allianz Stadium, as well as further opening this iconic venue to many others.”
RFU CEO Bill Sweeney also expressed optimism, stating: “We’re really pleased to be expanding our partnership with Allianz, enabling further investment into the community and professional game. This is an opportunity to celebrate our stadium’s proud legacy while developing it for the future.
“This partnership will support us in moving the game in a direction which serves all rugby, from minis to the elites, from club coaches to our national coaches and everything in between.”
