The City of London Police’s Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED) has appointed Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) Andrew Fyfe as head, replacing DCI Oliver Little who now runs the Dedicated Card and Payment Crime Unit (DCPCU).
A specialist in economic crime matters for most of his 26-year career as a police officer, DCI Fyfe was most recently part of the Police’s National Intelligence Fraud Bureau (NFIB). He is now in charge of the unit jointly funded by the Association of British Insurers (ABI) and the Corporation of Lloyd’s.
“The Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department has recently agreed three more years of funding and we’re looking forward to working with our stakeholders in the insurance industry in meeting the challenges that will present themselves in that time,” said the new IFED head.
Citing the department’s “excellent results” over the past six years, DCI Fyfe said he is pleased to have joined such a successful and dynamic team.
“There are many people who have contributed to its ongoing success, not least DCI Little, who led the team to some outstanding convictions during his time in post,” he remarked.
“All of the unit’s hard work has helped bring serious consequences to those who have endangered the public by engaging in insurance fraud, and I’m keen to ensure this continues.”
IFED has so far secured more than 350 convictions.
